EDATE is a useful function on Excel which allows you to find the same date as the data in which you entered, but for a specified month in the past or future. For example, if you give the formula cell B1 which contains the date 20/01/2020 and ask for it to return that date for 3 months ago, it will return 20/10/2020. The formula for this would be =EDATE(B1,-3). Use a positive number in the second part of the formula if the month you’re looking for is in the future, and a negative number if it’s in the past. In the example below, we show examples going back and forward for various numbers of months.
