CONCATENATE is a neat function within Excel which allows you combine the data from multiple cells into a single cell. This can be used for many purposes, for example combining first and last names to show a full name, or, as shown below, combining cities with their country.

To use this function, we simply type =CONCATENATE(), with the cells to be combined inside the parenthesis. Doing this will give a combination of the exact cells selected, so to add a space in between the cells we add double quotations around a space to the formula, or to add a comma we add double quotations around a comma into the formula.

In the example shown below, we have used the CONCATENATE function to combine the capital city with its corresponding country, separating them with a comma and a space.
