COUNTA and COUNTBLANK are functions on Excel which allow you to quickly identify how many cells contain data, and how many do not.
COUNTA allows you to count how many non-blank cells there are in a data range. This is done using the formula =COUNTA(data range), e.g., in our example below we used =COUNTA(A2:A9) to determine how many non-blank cells were in the data.
COUNTBLANK allows you to count how many blank cells appear in a data range. The formula to do this is =COUNTBLANK(data range), e.g., we use =COUNTBLANK(A2:A9) in our example.
